Members of the Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps recently participated in a hands-on vehicle extrication training exercise hosted by the West Nyack Fire Department.

The training brought together several EMTs and members of the Corps’ Youth Corps program to practice responding to vehicle crashes and work alongside firefighters during simulated rescue scenarios.

According to the Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps, joint training exercises help emergency responders refine critical rescue skills, improve communication, and strengthen teamwork between agencies. These collaborative drills are designed to ensure first responders are prepared to act quickly and effectively during real-world emergencies.

The Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps thanked the West Nyack Fire Department for hosting the training and acknowledged the department’s continued partnership in supporting emergency preparedness and public safety throughout the community.

The Clarkstown Police Department has announced the retirement of Sergeant Chris Bax, marking the conclusion of a distinguished 21-year career in law enforcement.

A third-generation police officer, Bax began his career with the New York City Police Department in 2005 before serving with the Westchester County Police Department. He joined the Clarkstown Police Department in 2008 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2019.

During his tenure with the department, Sgt. Bax served in the Patrol Division while also taking on several specialized training and instructional roles. His assignments included Field Training Officer, Police Mental Health Instructor, Disability Awareness Training Instructor, Crisis Intervention Team Instructor, Project Lifesaver Instructor, and New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Master Instructor.

Throughout his career, Bax played an important role in training fellow officers, advancing crisis intervention and mental health education, and supporting initiatives that strengthened community policing and public safety.

The Clarkstown Police Department thanked Sgt. Bax for his dedication, professionalism, and years of service to the department and the residents of Clarkstown.

His retirement marks the end of more than two decades of public service and a career dedicated to protecting and serving the community.
