A Gentle Farewell to 2025: Watch the Moon Glide Beside the Seven Sisters New Years Eve

Published

on

As the year draws to a close, a waxing gibbous Moon—glowing at nearly full—will drift beside the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters, creating a bright and gentle pairing that feels like a quiet farewell to the year.

This ancient star cluster has been watched, named, and mythologized by civilizations for thousands of years. On the final night of 2025, the Moon will appear to pause beside it, offering a striking and reflective skywatching moment.

Best viewing time:

  • Eastern Standard Time: 6–8 p.m. EST, looking toward the east to southeast
