Busy Weekend for Ramapo Police: 17 Arrests, Including Two Troubling Child Safety Cases

RAMAPO, NY — The Town of Ramapo Police Department made 17 arrests over the weekend in a range of incidents that highlight ongoing public safety concerns in the community.

The arrests included:

  • 8 individuals for driving with suspended licenses or vehicle registrations

  • 3 individuals with outstanding warrants

  • 2 arrests for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)

  • 2 arrests in connection with separate public exposure incidents

  • 2 troubling cases involving unsupervised toddlers, ages 2 and 3, found without adult supervision

“These arrests reflect the broad scope of our officers’ daily work,” the department said in a statement. “From enforcing traffic laws to responding to more serious public safety concerns, our officers are out there doing great police work.”

Officials noted that once arrests are made, cases are handed over to the criminal justice system for prosecution, while officers return to patrol duty to continue protecting the community.

Bronx Man Arrested on Felony Drug Charges Following New York State Police Traffic Stop in Sullivan County

MAMAKATING, NY — Members of the New York State Police Troop F Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) arrested a Bronx man on multiple felony drug charges following a traffic stop on State Route 17 on January 9, 2026.

According to police, Curtron L. Moore, 38, of the Bronx, was taken into custody after troopers observed him committing several New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations while driving westbound on State Route 17 in the Town of Mamakating.

The stop occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. near Exit 112. Moore, the sole occupant of a 2017 Jeep, was interviewed by members of the New York State Police Troop F CSU. During the investigation, a K-9 exterior sniff was conducted, and K-9 Moran alerted positively for the presence of narcotics.

A subsequent search of Moore’s person resulted in the seizure of approximately 31.3 grams of crack cocaine and 6.4 grams of fentanyl, police said. A search of the vehicle did not uncover any additional contraband.

Charges Filed

Moore was charged with the following offenses:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Narcotic), Class B felony

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Intent to Sell), Class B felony

Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug in the 4th Degree, Class C felony

Multiple Uniform Traffic Tickets

Following his arrest, Moore was transported to New York State Police Wurtsboro for processing without incident. He was arraigned in Town of Mamakating Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail.

Moore is scheduled to return to the Town of Mamakating Court on January 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

This investigation remains ongoing. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Spring Valley Police Arrest 13-Year-Old in Taxi Robbery and Stabbing; Two Suspects Sought

Spring Valley, NY — The Spring Valley Police Department is investigating a robbery and stabbing that occurred on the evening of January 4, 2026, at Spring Valley Memorial Park.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., officers responded to reports of a stabbing and learned that the victim, a taxi driver, had picked up three male passengers. Police say the individuals attacked the driver, during which one suspect displayed a knife. The suspects allegedly stole the driver’s cellphone and a large sum of U.S. currency.

During the incident, a third party who attempted to intervene was injured after being cut with the knife.

Following an immediate investigation, Spring Valley Police identified and arrested one suspect, a 13-year-old Spring Valley resident, who has been charged with Robbery in the First Degree, a Class B felony. Two additional suspects remain at large and are actively being sought.

Police emphasize that a criminal complaint is an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
