Clarkstown Police Officer William “Billy” Berrigan Retires After 38 Years of Service

The Clarkstown Police Department proudly congratulates Police Officer William “Billy” Berrigan on his retirement following nearly 38 years of dedicated service to the residents of Clarkstown and Rockland County.

Berrigan began his career in June 1988 with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office as a dispatcher, serving until May 1992. He joined the Clarkstown Police Department later that month as a dispatcher and continued in that role until January 1996.

In January 1996, Berrigan was sworn in as a Clarkstown police officer, a position he held with distinction until his retirement. Beginning in 2002, he became a valued member of the department’s Special Operations Traffic Enforcement Unit.

Throughout his career, Berrigan also served in several specialized assignments, including the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, the Child Safety Seat Team, and the Accident Investigation Unit.

The department thanks Officer Berrigan for his years of service and dedication and wishes him a long, healthy, and fulfilling retirement.

Congratulations to the 53rd Graduating Class of the Ramapo Police Youth Academy!

Tonight’s ceremony marked the culmination of weeks of hard work, discipline, teamwork, and dedication. Watching the cadets march onto the field was a proud moment for all involved and a true reflection of the commitment they demonstrated throughout the academy.

A special thank you to the Ramapo Town Board for their continued support of this program, as well as the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and the Spring Hill Ambulance Corps for their participation in making this program such a success. Your partnership helps provide these young men and women with an unforgettable experience and valuable life lessons.
