Holiday Events at Historic Salyer House: Choir, Puppets, Santa Visits and More

The historic Salyer House will open its doors for three consecutive Sundays in December—December 7, 14 and 21—for seasonal open house events from 1 to 4 p.m. The museum will feature traditional holiday decorations, period charm, and refreshments, including Mary’s mulled cider and an assortment of cookies.

December 7

Visitors can enjoy holiday carols performed by students from the Tappan Zee High School choir. The performance begins at 2 p.m.

December 14

Pink Flamingo Puppets will present a performance of The Gingerbread Man at 2 p.m., welcoming both children and adults. Santa Claus will make an appearance during the event.

December 21

The final open house of the month will offer general admission with an old-fashioned respite from the holiday rush. Guests can enjoy cider, cookies, and traditional Chanukah treats.

The Orangetown Historical Museum encourages the community to join in the festivities and celebrate the season at the Salyer House.

Patrouille de France “Liberté 250” Flyover Set for West Point June 9 @ 10:40 a.m.

A special aerial tribute is set to take place over West Point as the renowned Patrouille de France performs the “Liberté 250” flyover on Tuesday, June 9, at approximately 10:40 a.m.

The formation will pass over the United States Military Academy, traveling from Williams/Cullum Road toward Trophy Point while leaving a striking trail of red, white, and blue smoke in its wake. The flyover will also feature an A400 aircraft leading the formation.

The event offers a rare opportunity for spectators to witness one of the world’s most celebrated military aerobatic teams as it flies over one of America’s most historic military institutions.

Visitors and residents are encouraged to look to the skies and capture photos of the flyover as the aircraft make their pass over West Point.

Yes, many people in Rockland County may be able to see at least part of the flyover, depending on their location and visibility conditions.

The formation is scheduled to pass over United States Military Academy and then continue south along the Hudson River corridor toward the Statue of Liberty. Reports indicate the aircraft will travel down the Hudson after departing the West Point area. river, the better your chances.
