Penguin Rep Theatre continues its 2026 season with The Heart Sellers, an acclaimed new play by Lloyd Suh, running July 9 through July 26.

The production is directed by Maria Mileaf and is presented under the leadership of Penguin Rep’s founding artistic director Joe Brancato and executive director Andrew M. Horn.

Set in 1973, The Heart Sellers follows two immigrant women who meet by chance in a supermarket just before Thanksgiving. While their husbands, both medical residents, are working, the women spend the evening together sharing stories about adjusting to life in America, preparing a frozen turkey, and navigating the challenges of building a new home.

Described by Broadway World as a “laugh-aloud love letter to friendship,” the play blends humor and heartfelt storytelling to explore themes of belonging, identity, and human connection.
