Rockland Rowing Association to Host 2026 Masters Regatta at Rockland Lake June 27

Published

on

The Rockland Rowing Association has announced the return of its 4th Annual Masters Regatta, set to take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Rockland Lake State Park.

This year’s regatta marks a return to traditional age-group racing while continuing to feature the fast-paced 1000-meter sprint format and the fan-favorite Rockland Relays.

The event is expected to draw rowing teams from across the region for a full day of competitive racing and community engagement in one of the Hudson Valley’s most scenic venues.

Highlights of the Regatta

Among the most anticipated events are the Rockland Relays, where teams compete in a series of 500-meter sprint races across multiple boat classes, including 2x, 4+, 4x, and 8+. Each relay team consists of 18 rowers and two coxswains, with at least half of the competitors required to be women. Organizers say the relay format provides an exciting and highly visible competition for spectators.

The regatta will also feature:

  • Traditional age-based racing categories with awards for winners in each division
  • A professionally designed 1000-meter course with 10 buoyed lanes and stake boats
  • Full race management and timing for a smooth, competitive experience
  • Easy access for trailers, ample parking, and proximity to major roadways

Located just miles from the Tappan Zee Bridge and about 20 miles from New York City, the venue offers convenience for visiting crews. Participants and spectators can also enjoy nearby dining and accommodations in Nyack and the surrounding Rockland County area.

Organizers Look Ahead to Another Successful Year

“The Rockland Masters Regatta continues to grow each year, and we’re excited to welcome crews back to Rockland Lake for another great day of racing,” said Justin Bohan.

Following feedback from participants, organizers decided to return to the traditional race structure.

“After trying a different racing format last year and hearing feedback from crews, we’re excited to return to traditional age-group racing,” said Ivan Rudolph-Shabinsky. “It’s the classic format rowers know and love.”

Registration and Participation

Online registration is open through June 13, 2026. Boat rentals will also be available through equipment partner Wintech Racing, ensuring accessibility for teams traveling without equipment.

About Rockland Rowing Association

Founded in 2002 along the Hudson River in Nyack, the Rockland Rowing Association has grown from a small program with a single boat into a nonprofit organization serving nearly 100 rowers. The organization offers youth and adult rowing programs for residents across Rockland, Bergen, and Westchester counties.

With a mission to improve lives through rowing, the association continues to build on a local tradition that dates back to the late 1800s, when rowing clubs regularly competed on Rockland Lake.
