The volunteer firefighters of the Nanuet Fire Department are always ready to answer the call, leaving work, family gatherings, and daily routines behind to respond whenever the community needs them. Their dedication and commitment help keep Nanuet safe 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As the department continues its mission of serving the community, it is actively seeking new volunteers to join its ranks. Residents who have ever considered giving back to their community are encouraged to learn more about becoming a volunteer firefighter. No prior experience is necessary, as the department provides training, equipment, and ongoing support.

Clarkstown Welcomes New K-9 Argo to Police Department

Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann and Police Chief James Fay recently welcomed the department’s newest K-9, Argo, a 1-year-old Labrador Retriever.

Argo and his partner, Police Officer O’Connell, completed the Yonkers Police Department’s K-9 Patrol School in June. Argo is certified in tracking and evidence recovery and is scheduled to attend the Orange County Sheriff’s Office explosive detection school later this month.

In recognition of his service, Argo’s name has been added to the sign at Congers Dog Park, which honors Clarkstown’s K-9s as well as Corporal Megan Leavey and Canine Sgt. Rex.

Congratulations to Argo and Officer O’Connell, and thank you for your service to the Clarkstown community.
