Officer Genito and The Ramapo Police Department Were Honored for Excellence in Impaired Driving Prevention

The Ramapo Police Department received top honors at the 2025 New York State Law Enforcement Recognition Event, hosted by MADD NY, STOP DWI NY, the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, and NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services.

Officer John Genito was awarded the Recognition of Excellence for his outstanding work in drunk and drugged driving enforcement—his second time receiving this award.

The department also earned the Department of the Year Award (101–250 officers category), recognizing its strong commitment to impaired driving prevention through enforcement and education.

Congratulations to Officer Genito for his well-deserved recognition, and to the men and women of the Ramapo Police Department for their relentless efforts in drunk and drugged driving enforcement.

Congratulations to the 53rd Graduating Class of the Ramapo Police Youth Academy!

Tonight’s ceremony marked the culmination of weeks of hard work, discipline, teamwork, and dedication. Watching the cadets march onto the field was a proud moment for all involved and a true reflection of the commitment they demonstrated throughout the academy.

A special thank you to the Ramapo Town Board for their continued support of this program, as well as the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and the Spring Hill Ambulance Corps for their participation in making this program such a success. Your partnership helps provide these young men and women with an unforgettable experience and valuable life lessons.
