Ramapo Police Arrest Hillcrest Man and Woman in Connection with Taxi Service Thefts

06/06/2025 – The Town of Ramapo Police Department Detective Bureau has arrested two individuals in connection with recent incidents involving robberies and thefts of service from local taxi drivers.

A 26-year-old male resident of Hillcrest was arrested for his involvement in two separate cases. He has been charged with Robbery in the Second Degree, Petit Larceny, and Theft of Service. Following arraignment before the Honorable Judge Straus, he was remanded to the Rockland County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Ramapo Court at a later date.

A 27-year-old female, also from Hillcrest, was arrested for her involvement in one incident. She has been charged with Petit Larceny and Theft of Service. She was released on her own recognizance and is due to appear in Ramapo Court at a later date.

Haverstraw Police Arrest Garnerville Man in Connection with Two Commercial Burglaries

Haverstraw, NY — The Haverstraw Police Department announces the arrest of Cory Cordero, age 48, of Garnerville, NY, in connection with two commercial burglaries that occurred in Garnerville and Haverstraw, NY.

The incidents involved the theft of money collection and change machines located in laundry rooms at two separate residential complexes.

Cordero was located on [insert date] in Stony Point, NY, where he was taken into custody and transported to the Haverstraw Police Department for processing. He was charged with multiple counts of Burglary, Grand Larceny, and Criminal Mischief. Following arraignment, Cordero was released on his own recognizance pending future court proceedings.

The Haverstraw Police Department extends its gratitude to the Stony Point Police Department, the Rockland County Intelligence Center, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.

Official Update from the Haverstraw Police Department

This serves as an update to our initial post from last night regarding the ongoing investigation.

On October 30, 2025, at approximately 6:20 PM, the Haverstraw Police Department received reports of shots fired in the area of the Mobil Gas Station on Route 202 in Garnerville.

Responding officers quickly located a male subject, identified as Capernicus Yodweyone (28), of Garnerville, NY, in the parking lot of the Foremost Shopping Center, standing near a vehicle in close proximity to a shotgun.

The investigation determined that the subject, while standing outside his vehicle, fired multiple shotgun rounds directly into the unoccupied vehicle he had been operating. Officers immediately took the subject into custody at the scene and transported him to the Haverstraw Police Department. The weapon was safely recovered.

The defendant has been charged with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a Class D Felony, and remains in custody pending arraignment.
