Ramapo Police Drone Tracks Assault Suspect, Leads to Arrest

RAMAPO, N.Y. — A Ramapo Police Department drone played a key role in the arrest of a domestic assault suspect earlier this morning, officials said.

Police responded to a report of a woman who was assaulted in the face by her boyfriend, who then fled the scene in a white taxicab. At the time of the call, the department’s RAPTOR unit was already operating a Paladin Drone as First Responder (DFR) on another assignment and was immediately redirected to assist.

Using the Paladin DFR drone, officers were able to quickly locate the white taxi and track it to a driveway in the Hillcrest area. The drone observed two individuals exiting the vehicle and entering a nearby residence. One of the individuals was identified as the suspected assailant.

Based on the real-time information provided by the drone, responding officers were directed to the residence, where the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Police said the 27-year-old suspect was arraigned later in the afternoon on an assault charge. He was released on an appearance ticket, and an order of protection was issued.

Officials noted the incident highlights the effectiveness of the Paladin DFR program in helping officers rapidly locate suspects and deploy resources with precision.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead early Saturday morning in the Town of Ramapo.

According to the Ramapo Police Department, officers responded around 7:15 a.m. on April 18, 2026, to a report of a deceased individual near Park Avenue in Spring Valley. At the scene, officers discovered the body of an unidentified male, believed to be between 27 and 34 years old, beneath a parked truck. Police say there is currently no indication that the vehicle itself was involved in the incident.

Preliminary findings suggest the death did not occur immediately prior to the discovery. The circumstances remain unclear and are under active investigation.

The department’s Investigations Unit, along with crash investigators and accident reconstruction teams, responded to the scene and are working to determine what happened. Authorities are also pursuing leads to identify the individual.

The Ramapo Police Department is coordinating with the Spring Valley Police Department, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues.
