Recycle Your Christmas Tree by Feeding Goats at Cropsey Community Farm

Give Your Christmas Tree a Second Life — and Treat Local Goats

After the holidays, Christmas trees can do more than head to the curb—they can become a healthy treat for goats. At Cropsey Community Farm in New City, goats happily munch on discarded Christmas trees, which provide several health benefits.

According to the farm, evergreen trees help with natural deworming, provide vitamins A and C along with antioxidants, reduce winter boredom, and even support shiny coats and fresh breath for the animals. It’s a win-win: goats enjoy a nutritious snack, and residents get an eco-friendly way to recycle their trees.

Community members are encouraged to drop off previously used, undecorated Christmas trees in front of the Cropsey Community Farm barn—the large red barn at the top of the hill.

Drop-off Location:
Cropsey Community Farm
220 S. Little Tor Road
New City, NY

Farm staff say the goats—and the environment—thank you in advance.

As the need for affordable housing continues to grow in the region, community support is more important than ever. Whether you can give a few hours or commit to ongoing projects, your time can make a lasting impact.

Habitat for Humanity reminds residents that building a stronger Rockland County starts with neighbors helping neighbors—one home, one family, and one volunteer at a time.
