“Sopranos” prequel filming in Nyack

The ‘Sopranos’ prequel – The Many Saints of Newark were filming scenes for the upcoming movie at the West Gate Inn in Nyack today.

The feature film “The Many Saints of Newark” will recount the origin story of mob boss Tony Soprano, the emotionally complex patriarch of a New Jersey crime family. The film was co-written by “The Sopranos” creator David Chase.

Michael Gandolfini is paying homage to his late father, actor James Gandolfini, in a special way. The 19-year-old is playing the younger version of the iconic TV character his dad made famous – Tony Soprano.

Recently, the local landmark received a touch of Hollywood when actor Jon Hamm visited during filming for the Apple TV+ drama series Your Friends & Neighbors. The show, which stars Hamm and was filmed throughout New York’s Hudson Valley and Westchester areas, has brought national attention to several local locations.

During production, Hamm spent time at New City Bowl filming scenes for the series, creating excitement throughout the community. Photos of owner Alice Lenna with the Emmy-winning actor quickly became a memorable moment for local residents and fans of the show alike.
