ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY – Early on Wednesday morning, the Thiells FD & West Haverstraw FD responded to a call for a person who had fallen into a boiler who sustained life threatening injuries and needed extraction at the Bowline Point Power plant. It was determined that a worker had fallen from the 8th floor to approximately the 2nd floor, inside a boiler hopper.

Firefighters were able to pin point where in the ducting the victim was by listening for breathing and ringing the cellphone. Firefighters quickly began to breach the steel duct work. The Rockland County Technical Rescue Team was dispatched. They were able to cut away the thick ducting materials and access the victim.

Once the victim was extracted from the boiler ducts, he was then brought to an awaiting ambulance. The ambulance transported the victim to the nearby landing zone and later transported to Westchester Medical Center. via @thiellsfd
