Woman Killed in New City House Fire on Carolina Drive, Investigation Underway

NEW CITY, NY — An early morning house fire in New City on Sunday claimed the life of an adult woman, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 9:05 a.m. on March 29, 2026, when officers responded to a report of a structure fire at a residence on Carolina Drive. Initial reports indicated that a resident might still be inside the home.

Upon arrival, officers found the single-family residence heavily engulfed in flames. The New City Fire Engine Company responded to the scene, along with multiple volunteer fire departments from across Rockland County providing mutual aid.

Firefighters faced intense fire conditions and partial structural collapse while working to contain the blaze. The fire was eventually brought under control by responding crews.

Following the extinguishment of the fire, authorities discovered an adult female victim deceased inside the home.

The Clarkstown Police Department extended its condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Clarkstown Police Department Detective Bureau. Officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Unidentified Man Found Dead in Spring Valley; Ramapo Police Investigating

SPRING VALLEY, NY — Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead early Saturday morning in the Town of Ramapo.

According to the Ramapo Police Department, officers responded around 7:15 a.m. on April 18, 2026, to a report of a deceased individual near Park Avenue in Spring Valley. At the scene, officers discovered the body of an unidentified male, believed to be between 27 and 34 years old, beneath a parked truck. Police say there is currently no indication that the vehicle itself was involved in the incident.

Preliminary findings suggest the death did not occur immediately prior to the discovery. The circumstances remain unclear and are under active investigation.

The department’s Investigations Unit, along with crash investigators and accident reconstruction teams, responded to the scene and are working to determine what happened. Authorities are also pursuing leads to identify the individual.

The Ramapo Police Department is coordinating with the Spring Valley Police Department, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues.
