SUFFERN, NY – The Suffern Fire Department and neighboring Fire Departments responded to a fully involved structure fire on Riverside Drive in the Village of Suffern on Sunday, February 7 at approximately 11 am.

Suffern Mayor Ed Markunas confirmed that the residents were able to exit the structure with their pets without injuries. Over 100 hundred firefighters from over 6 departments responded to the scene. No firefighters were injured battling the blaze.

It is unknown the cause of the fire at this time.

An Alligator Was Rescued From The Minisceongo Creek

Today at approximately 11:10am, Haverstraw Police responded to the Minisceongo Creek in the area of Bridge Street in Garnerville for a report of an alligator in the creek.
Haverstraw Police Department personnel assisted in successfully removing the alligator from the water. The Hudson Valley Humane Society of Pomona responded to the scene to take possession and care of the alligator.

UPDATE: Rockland County Firefighters Headed To Orange County To Assist In Greenwood Lake Wildfire

Rockland County fire departments deployed units to Greenwood Lake in Orange County last night to help protect structures threatened by the brush fire. Hillcrest, Blauvelt, Pearl River, New City, West Haverstraw, Central Nyack, Nanuet, Piermont, and Suffern responded.
