The Haverstraw/Nanuet Softball Little League Team is headed to the Junior Little League World Series in Washington State. The team is made up of 13 – 14 year girls from Haverstraw and Nanuet in Rockland County.
After Pool play, the girls entered into single elimination rounds seeded 3rd in the Mid Atlantic bracket with a 1-2 record. The girls went on to defeat #2 seed Massachusetts from the New England bracket. They then faced Pennsylvania for the second time (NY lost 5-4 in 8 innings during pool play) and defeated them to win a bid to the final round (a best out of 3 series) against Delaware (NY lost to Delaware 5-3 during pool play). NY took the first game of the series 4-1 day 1. The following day, Delaware defeated NY 7-4, forcing a final game. NY won the decisive game by a score of 6-2, with pitcher Delaney McGovern (Haverstraw) hurling both games.
