ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY – As frustrations mount, the five Town Supervisors of Rockland County released a joint letter slamming Orange and Rockland Utilities on their handling of Tropical Storm Isaias.

“We would like to inform the public that at 11:30 this morning a conference call was held with representatives from O&R Utilities regarding major outages throughout Rockland County. Each Supervisor expressed their dismay and frustration with the poor response time by O&R. The Supervisors specifically asked for an immediate report on the number of work crews in each Town, where they are located, an estimated time of restoration for that job site and where the crew would be going next. O&R representatives informed us that they would not have that information for another 48 hours. O&R stated that they are still in the assessing stage of this storm. They informed the Supervisors that there are major outages throughout our area and it could take 7 – 10 days to restore. The Supervisors found it unconscionable that O&R will only give a global restoration of their system by 7 pm tonight and customer specific outage not until tomorrow Thursday night after 7 pm. ”
