NEW CITY, NY – Authorities say a suspicious package that brought out the Rockland County Sheriff’s bomb squad to New Hempstead Road in New City turned out to be a persons luggage.

Pete Walker of the Clarkstown Police Department said that on Monday authorities were called regarding a suspicious package that was left in the bus terminal for an extended period of time.

Bomb technicians were called to the scene to investigate the contents within the package, which was later determined not to be a threat. On scene were the Clarkstown Police Department and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.

No arrests or damages were reported from the incident.

An Alligator Was Rescued From The Minisceongo Creek

Today at approximately 11:10am, Haverstraw Police responded to the Minisceongo Creek in the area of Bridge Street in Garnerville for a report of an alligator in the creek.
Haverstraw Police Department personnel assisted in successfully removing the alligator from the water. The Hudson Valley Humane Society of Pomona responded to the scene to take possession and care of the alligator.

UPDATE: Rockland County Firefighters Headed To Orange County To Assist In Greenwood Lake Wildfire

Rockland County fire departments deployed units to Greenwood Lake in Orange County last night to help protect structures threatened by the brush fire. Hillcrest, Blauvelt, Pearl River, New City, West Haverstraw, Central Nyack, Nanuet, Piermont, and Suffern responded.
