NEW CITY, NY – Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann, a Republican, is seriously considering running for New York State in District 38, multiple Republican sources have confirmed to the Rockland Report. Two weeks ago Hoehmann’s campaign did targeted polling (via phone calls) that we are told came back very positive. The seat is currently held by Senator David Carlucci (who is not seeking re-election) and encompasses all of the towns of Clarkstown, Orangetown, Ramapo, and Ossining in Westchester County.
Hoehmann was first elected to Clarkstown Town Supervisor after defeating longtime Supervisor Alex Gromack. Since then, Hoehmann has become a rising star and is the future of the Rockland County Republican Party.
In 2017, Hoehmann would go on to defeat former Clarkstown Police Chief Michael Sullivan (and then Democratic party insider Nicole Doliner in 2019 by sizable margins. It is important to note that Hoehmann has been able to do this as a Republican in a 2 – 1 Democratic to Republican Party enrollment advantage town. The Town Board in Clarkstown is currently controlled 4 – 1 by the Republicans, with Patrick Carroll the lone Democrat on the board.
We are told that Hoehmann will make his final decision on whether to run for the NYS Senate in the coming days.
