Clarkstown Town Clerk Justin Sweet Announces Run For State Senate Seat Being Vacated By Carlucci

NEW CITY, NY – Clarkstown Town Clerk Justin Sweet released a video on Facebook announcing his candidacy for the New York State Senate. He looks to succeed former Clarkstown Town Clerk and current State Senator David Carlucci who represents the Senate 38th District. Carlucci has announced he will be running for Congress.

“It has been a great honor and privilege to serve as Clarkstown Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes for the past nine years. We have accomplished a lot in that time from dealing with unfunded mandates from Albany, a department merger, modernizing the office, and making it as accessible to as many town residents as possible, all while reducing costs.

I’m very proud of the work we have accomplished in the Town Clerk’s office and I want to continue my work for the citizens. Which is why I am proud to announce today my run for State Senate District 38, currently held by my friend David Carlucci who has decided not to run for re-election to this seat.” said Clarkstown Town Clerk Justin Sweet

A large crowd of Rockland residents gathered at Clarkstown Town Hall to witness Senator Bill Weber being sworn in for his second term in office. Police Chaplain David Lothrop served as the Master of Ceremonies, while County Legislator Lon Hofstein introduced the distinguished guests in attendance. County Executive Ed Day delivered remarks, highlighting the importance of having Senator Weber championing Rockland’s interests in Albany. The ceremony featured an invocation by Rabbi Abraham Horowitz of Spring Valley and a benediction by Reverend Teresa Darden of Nyack.
