SUFFERN, NY – Around 5:30 pm on Sunday, September 22 the Suffern FD were operating at a large area of brush burning on the mountain.

The mountain is located in Suffern, above Orange Ave near the NY State Thruway.

Tallman FD, Mahwah, and Hillburn responded as mutual aid with Monsey operating at the Suffern Fire House for support.

There were no residents or firefighters injured, according to Michael Stark, Deputy Fire Coordinator for Rockland County.

The initial session of the Cops and Kids program in 2025 kicked off today at Fieldstone Middle School with a friendly game of dodgeball. This program is an opportunity for our department to connect with the youth in the community.
School Resource Officer Joe Bertolino, along with Police Officers Aquino and Fit, joined the students in the game, creating a fun environment that encouraged interaction between the kids and the police officers. We thank the North Rockland School District for their partnership and collaboration.
