Former President Jimmy Carter Dies At 100

Jimmy Carter served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. He was awarded the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize for work to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.

James Earl Carter, Jr.–was born October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. Peanut farming, talk of politics, and devotion to the Baptist faith were mainstays of his upbringing. Upon graduation in 1946 from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, Carter married Rosalynn Smith. The Carters have three sons, John William (Jack), James Earl III (Chip), Donnel Jeffrey (Jeff), and a daughter, Amy Lynn. He passed away this afternoon in Plains, Georgia.

The Artist Council Of Rockland Is Launching The Artists’ Support Fund

The Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) is excited to announce the launch of the 2025 Artists’ Support Fund (ASF), a grant program designed to provide direct financial assistance to practicing artists in Rockland County. This initiative underscores ACOR’s commitment to fostering a thriving artistic community by supporting the ongoing work of local talent.
The Artists’ Support Fund was created to recognize and address the financial challenges faced by
artists in Rockland County. Through this program, ACOR aims to empower artists by offering
grants to assist with various aspects of their creative practices. Eligible expenses include studio
or workshop rentals, supplies, equipment or instrument purchases or rentals, website
development, professional development, transportation, costumes, or emergencies related to an
artist’s work.
Eligibility Criteria:
• Be residents of Rockland County.
• Be members of the Arts Council of Rockland.
• Have an ongoing artistic practice in any discipline, including music, dance, visual art,
film/media, creative writing, poetry, and theater/performance.
• Have not received an Artists’ Support Fund grant for three grant cycles.
Application Details:
The application period for the 2025 Artists’ Support Fund is now open. Artists are encouraged to
submit their applications by March 1, 2025, at 11:59 PM. Successful applicants will be notified in
April 2025. No application fee is required, and grant funding requests must range between $250
and $500.
