The Clarkstown Police Department Detective Bureau worked tirelessly to secure the arrests leading to the guilty pleas of Constantinos Doonan, 32, of New City, NY, to murder in the second degree (class A felony) and Jo-Ann Haughey, 26, of New City, to manslaughter in the first degree (class B felony). The victim in this case, Mr. Constantinos Mastakouris, lost his life due to a senseless and extreme act of violence perpetrated by the defendants. Chief Wanamaker said, “These guilty pleas underscore the dedicated efforts of the Clarkstown Police Department and our law enforcement partners in taking two dangerous individuals off the streets. We offer our sincere support to the victims’ family, hoping this resolution provides them with some comfort and a sense of justice.”
As per the R.C. District Attorney’s office, both Doonan and Haughey were remanded to Rockland County Jail and will be sentenced on December 3, 2024. Doonan will be sentenced to twenty years to life in state prison on the second-degree murder conviction. Haughey will be sentenced to fifteen years in state prison on the first-degree manslaughter conviction.
