Haverstraw, NY — In a heartfelt ceremony on Monday, Pratt Street in Haverstraw was officially renamed Bolivar Marchand Way, honoring the life and legacy of one of Rockland County’s most cherished community leaders. Family, friends, and local officials, including Haverstraw Supervisor Howard Phillips and Mayor Michael Kohut, gathered to celebrate the renaming and pay tribute to Marchand’s profound impact on the community.

Bolivar Marchand, a proud Puerto Rican American, was a tireless advocate for justice, equality, and civic engagement. Throughout his life, he served as a political leader, civil rights champion, and community activist, leaving an indelible mark on those he served and inspired.

His remarkable contributions were recognized countywide when he was inducted into the Rockland County Civil Service Hall of Fame—a testament to his unwavering commitment to public service and social justice.

“Bolivar made Haverstraw and all of Rockland County a better place,” said Supervisor Phillips. “His dedication, leadership, and compassion touched countless lives.”
