ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — At 6:54 AM on May 15, 2025, the Hillcrest Fire Company was dispatched to the scene of a serious two-vehicle accident on the Palisades Parkway South, prompting a swift and coordinated emergency response.

Upon arrival, Chief Bowers (6-1) found one of the vehicles—an SUV overturned and off the roadway, resting on its side in the wooded area. The driver of the SUV was trapped inside the vehicle, requiring immediate extrication efforts.

Firefighters from 6-Squad and 6-Rescue quickly moved into action. They worked to stabilize the overturned SUV and then utilized hydraulic tools to cut off the vehicle’s roof in order to safely remove the trapped occupant. The operation required precision and teamwork, with responders working diligently under challenging conditions.

The successful extrication was a testament to the skill and preparedness of the Hillcrest Fire Company crews. The condition of the driver has not been officially released, and the cause of the accident is currently under investigation by local authorities.

This incident highlights the critical role of Rockland County emergency services in responding to life-threatening situations on local highways, including the frequently traveled Palisades Parkway.
