NEW CITY, NY – In March, Nabeela McLeod, a rising star in the Rockland District Attorney’s Office announced her candidacy for Clarkstown Justice. She looks to become the first female justice in the over 220 year history of the the Town of Clarkstown.
Republican candidates Leslie Kahn and current sitting Judge for over 30 years and Village of Airmont Attorney Scott Ugell, are running primaries to win the democratic line. The primary election will be in June.
Below is a short bio for Nabeela McLeod:
Nabeela McLeod is currently a criminal prosecutor at the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office. She has been working at the D.A’s Office for nearly fifteen years and is currently an Executive Assistant District Attorney. She is the head of the Grand Jury Bureau and is also assigned to the Major Crimes Unit as a trial attorney.
Nabeela started her legal career at the D.A’s Office in 2006 as an Assistant District Attorney in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court and was assigned there for six years. She has lived in Clarkstown for over twenty years where she and her husband Keith have been raising their two daughters, Maya, age 10 and Mina, age 8.
Nabeela attended Pace University for her undergraduate studies and graduated law school from Western New England Law. In law school she developed a love for criminal law and at the D.A.’s Office, she developed a love for public service.
She has prosecuted many serious felonies such as Murder, Robbery, Burglary, Assault and Grand Larceny. She has conducted numerous jury trials in County Court and presented hundreds of cases to the Grand Jury.
She loves to serve her community and the people of Rockland County by seeking justice for crime victims.
