BREAKING: Multiple Fatalities in Vehicle Accident on New Hempstead

BREAKING: (UPDATED 6:50) First responders are on scene of a serious motor vehicle accident on New Hempstead Road.

A van struck a tree with up to 10 passengers entrapped in the vehicle. All occupants of the van have been extracted at this time. It has been reported some were children (as young as 9 yrs. old – unconfirmed at this time). Some of the passengers were transported to Nyack Hospital and Westchester Medical.

🚨 UPDATE: Orthodox News Outlets are reporting two fatalities from the accident.

Traffic Update – New Hempstead Road will be CLOSED in both directions between the PIP and Rt 45 for Accident Investigation.

Clarkstown Police Stand in Honor of the Fallen During National Police Week

Washington, D.C. — Today, on National Peace Officers Memorial Day (May 15), the Clarkstown Police Department proudly honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in the line of duty. Signed into law by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, this solemn day is the centerpiece of National Police Week, when thousands of law enforcement officers gather in the nation’s capital to remember and reflect.

Among those standing in tribute this year, the Clarkstown Police Department Honor Guard took part in the National Emerald Society Memorial Service, presenting the colors with precision and dignity.

“It is a solemn privilege to pay tribute to our fallen heroes, honoring their sacrifice and dedication to keeping our communities safe,” the department said in a statement.

National Police Week serves as a powerful reminder of the risks officers take each day in service to their communities. Clarkstown’s participation in the week’s events reflects the department’s deep respect for those who have fallen — and its commitment to upholding their legacy of duty, courage, and service.

Rockland Paramedic Services Honors EMS Week May 18-24 with Weeklong Events

Rockland Paramedic Services proudly joins the nationwide celebration of EMS Week, taking place May 18–24, 2025, to recognize and honor the dedicated paramedics, EMTs, and support staff who serve on the frontlines of emergency medical care in our community.

This year’s national theme “We Care. For Everyone,” reflects the inclusive, compassionate, and expert care that EMS professionals provide across evry zip code, age group, and walk of life. The professionals at Rockland Paramedics are there 24/7 – ready to respond, care, and protect.

“EMS Week is a time to recognize the incredible men and women behind the scenes, those who go above and beyond to make a difference when seconds count,” said Tim Egan, Executive Director of Rockland Paramedics Services. “At Rockland Paramedic Services, we are proud of our team’s commitment to excellence, compassion, and community.”

Now in its 51st year, National EMS Week is more than a celebration — it’s a call to raise
awareness of the critical role EMS plays in public health, emergency preparedness, and
community safety. “In Rockland County, we believe prevention is just as powerful as response, and we encourage residents to take advantage of resources like registering for car seat safety checks hosted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, as well as CPR training and other wellness programs,” added Egan.
