The Orangetown Republican Committee announced that Teresa Kenny, a local attorney who has worked in the Town of Orangetown’s Attorney office for over 22 years and currently serves as First Deputy Town Attorney will run for Orangetown Supervisor. If elected she would be the first woman Supervisor in Rockland County.

“As a member of the Town Attorney’s office, Teresa Kenny has spent the last twenty-two years working to protect taxpayers and preserve our quality of life in Orangetown,” said Councilman Denis Troy. “In the last few years, she has been an invaluable member of our team offering sound legal advice and helping implement the policies of our 4-1 Republican Majority on the Town Board.”

“At Monday’s GOP Committee meeting, Teresa earned the overwhelming support and gratitude of our committee for making the sacrifice to run for office and put our Town ahead of her own self-interest,” said Michael Lawler, Chairman of the Orangetown Republican Committee. “We are excited that Teresa will be the first woman ever elected as Town Supervisor in the history of Rockland County.”

“I’m deeply humbled by the trust and support the committee has placed in me. Having lived in Rockland County most of my life and working for the Town of Orangetown for over twenty-two years, I know what is at stake in this election and given the circumstances, I could not sit on the sidelines,” Kenny said. “As Town Supervisor, I will continue the work of the current Town Board – protecting taxpayers, stopping overdevelopment, enforcing our zoning and planning laws, promoting economic growth, and preserving our quality of life. I look forward to making my case to the people of Orangetown and giving them a clear choice in November.”

Kenny will be facing former Town Supervisor Thom Kleiner in November. Kleiner, the former Supervisor ran un-successfully against Chris Day in 2017.

Clarkstown Councilman Patrick Carroll Announces Candidacy for NYS Assembly District 96

NEW CITY, NY – Town of Clarkstown Councilman Patrick Carroll announces his candidacy for New York State Assembly District 96, to replace Assemblyman Ken Zebrowki who recently announced that he wasn’t seeking re-election. Councilman Carroll currently represents Ward 4, which encompasses Bardonia, New City, Nanuet, Spring Valley and West Nyack. He lives in Bardonia with his wife Natalie and their four daughters: Madelyn, Lily, Paige and Hailey. He is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and Wesleyan University, a licensed attorney, and currently works as an Administrative Law Judge for New York State.

“After speaking with community leaders, I have decided to seek election to the New York State Assembly. Filling my good friend Ken Zebrowski’s shoes will be no easy task, as he has been an outstanding and effective advocate for Rockland families. I hope to build on Ken’s substantial achievements and will work to protect the suburban quality of life that exists in Haverstraw, Nyack and Clarkstown.” said Councilman Carroll.

Since his announcement, Carroll has received key endorsements from democratic leaders from retired Legislator Harriet Cornell and Legislator Beth Davidson.

“When you knock about 3,000 doors alongside someone, you get to know them pretty well—what they believe in, what they stand for, whom they fight for. While I am so grateful to Ken Zebrowski for his 17 years of admirable and effective service as our Assemblyman, I am thrilled to endorse my friend Clarkstown Councilman Patrick J. Carroll for AD-96. I stand ready to knock another 2-3,000 doors to secure your election, Pat—and I know no one will work harder to help Dems up and down the ticket in November!” said Legislator Beth Davidson.
