Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on NYS Thruway (Sloatsburg)

SLOATSBURG, NY – On June 6, 2020 at approximately 11 pm on the New York State Thruway by Sloatsburg (NY) a Pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle.

VIA NYS TROOPERS

Investigation at the scene revealed that Robert H. Harrington, 45, of Waltham, MA, was operating his 2019 Jeep southbound in the area of mile marker 33.1, when he struck the guardrail. Harrington *became ejected into the roadway* and was subsequently struck by a 2019 Freightliner tractor trailer operated by Robin Carroll, 63, of Albany, NY.

Harrington was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Rockland County Medical Examiner. Carroll was not injured. Traffic was diverted around the scene using the ramps through the Ramapo Service Area while the accident was reconstructed by the New York State Police Troop F Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU). The Troop F Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) also responded to the scene to assist SP Tarrytown Troopers with the investigation.

HPD Kicks Off The 2025 Season Of Cops And Kids Program At Fieldstone Middle School

The initial session of the Cops and Kids program in 2025 kicked off today at Fieldstone Middle School with a friendly game of dodgeball. This program is an opportunity for our department to connect with the youth in the community.
School Resource Officer Joe Bertolino, along with Police Officers Aquino and Fit, joined the students in the game, creating a fun environment that encouraged interaction between the kids and the police officers. We thank the North Rockland School District for their partnership and collaboration.
