The Board of Education will make a motion at the May 9 meeting to accept a resolution naming the surface Kondracki Track to recognize Mr. Kondracki’s 35 years of service as Indoor Track Coach, and 25 years as the Outdoor Track Coach. In addition, Mr. Kondracki has been the coach of the Boys Cross Country Team for 35 years.

As the Outdoor Track Coach since 1984, Ray Kondracki has 154 wins, second all-time in Rockland County and has been named Rockland County Coach of the Year seven times. He has led his team to six county championships, five league championships, four Section I championships, and his 1998 team won the New York State Championship. He has also coached six individual state champions during the Outdoor Track season. He also won six Section I Championships during the Indoor Track season, and has 151 career wins as Boys Cross Country Coach.

“Over the course of his 34-year career, Coach Kondracki has accumulated a multitude of championships and received countless personal and team awards,” said Dr. Chris Serra, Clarkstown Central School District Athletic Director. “In as much as these accomplishments exceed that of many other high school coaches in the sports of track and field and cross country throughout our state, more impressive are the number of athletes Coach Kondracki has been a part of spanning these last three decades. If you were to look across his career, Ray has coached over 1,600 contests supervising 9,000 athletes. I can tell you firsthand that Coach Kondracki focused more of his effort toward turning every one of these 9,000 students into positive, contributing members of society than worrying about trophies.”

The Board of Education meeting on May 9 will begin at 8 p.m., and the recognition section of the meeting for Coach Kondracki will take place shortly after the start of the meeting.
