FDNY Firefighter from Suffern Passes Away, GoFundme Setup for Family

SUFFERN, NY – It is with deep sadness we share the passing of Rockland Resident and FDNY FF Daniel William Powers, Engine Company 250, who succumbed to illness on October 16, 2023.
FF Powers, served with the FDNY for 27 years. Dan lived in Suffern was married to the love of his life Christine Powers and they had two beautiful children, who were Dan’s entire world, Callie, 20 and Danny, 17. Unfortunately Dan, Callie and Danny lost Christine just one year ago on October 25, 2022.

Dan’s passing has thrust Callie and Danny into adulthood and into a situation that no children should ever have to be in. They are faced with with a mortgage payment, car payments and all the things that come along with adulthood. Any donation amount will go a long way and you can do so in the link below.

Garnerville Man Arrested On Drugs And Weapons Charges

The Haverstraw Police Department announces the arrest of Kevin Reyes (24) of Garnerville, NY.
Haverstraw Police Department personnel observed the defendant in the Village of Haverstraw. The defendant was known to have an active bench warrant for his arrest. The defendant was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and a controlled substance.
The defendant was charged with criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree : loaded firearm (Class C Felony), criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree (Class A Misdemeanor) in addition to the bench warrant for criminal contempt 2nd degree (Class A Misdemeanor).
The defendant was arraigned in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court where he was remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail in the amount of $80,000 cash / $150,000 bond / $150,000 partially secure bond.
It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

An Alligator Was Rescued From The Minisceongo Creek

Today at approximately 11:10am, Haverstraw Police responded to the Minisceongo Creek in the area of Bridge Street in Garnerville for a report of an alligator in the creek.
Haverstraw Police Department personnel assisted in successfully removing the alligator from the water. The Hudson Valley Humane Society of Pomona responded to the scene to take possession and care of the alligator.
