Fatal House Fire in Central Nyack

CENTRAL NYACK, NY – On Saturday, December 30, 2023 at approximately 4:50 pm the Clarkstown Police Department responded to 49 Laurel Rd. in Central Nyack for a reported structure fire with a resident possibly still inside.
As police units arrived on scene they observed a single family home with fire engulfing the first floor. Central Nyack FD was on scene along with several other volunteer fire companies from throughout the county. The responding firefighters conducted an interior search of the residence, which resulted in them locating an unconscious adult male in an upstairs bedroom. The adult male (74 years old), was removed from the residence and although every attempt was made to resuscitate him, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The Clarkstown PD – Detective Bureau is handling the investigation and has yet to make a determination as to the cause of the fire. Detectives ask if you have any information with regard to this fatal fire to please contact them at (845)639-5840.

Rockland County Police Emerald Society Pipes & Drums Band Will Host An Information Session April 9th

The Rockland County Police Emerald Society Pipes & Drums Band is actively seeking individuals interested in learning to play the bagpipes or drums. An informational session is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, at 6 PM. This meeting is open to current and former law enforcement personnel who are considering joining the band.
