Firefighters Quickly Get Structure Fire in Piermont Under Control

PIERMONT, NY – On January 22, 2024, the Piermont Fire Department was dispatched for a possible structure fire at 562 Piermont Ave.

Within 2 minutes a Signal 12 (working fire assignment) was transmitted by 13-6. 13-1, 13-2, 13-3 & 21-2 arrived on scene and begin conducting searches of the upper floors of the multi family dwelling. The crew of 13-1001 once on scene pulled an 1-3/4 line off the rear back step to the first floor where the seat of the fire was located by the crew of 13-99.

While conducting primary searches on the second and third floors, 13-Operations located heavy fire on both upper floors on the 1-2 corner of the structure. A second alarm was then transmitted bring in a additional ladder, Engine and F.A.S.T. to the scene.

Within an hour the fire was placed under control and the scene was turned over to PD and the fire inspector. No residents or firefighters were injured during the fire.

Clarkstown Police Department Temporary Road Closure April 22-April 25th Valley Cottage

Gilchrest Rd will be temporarily closed beginning, Monday, April 22 to Thursday, April 25, at the railroad crossing between Stern Place and Sasson Terrace in Valley Cottage. This closure is due to construction upgrades being performed by CSX. Please follow the posted detours provided by CSX.
