It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of Aidan Knerr, a bright light in the lives of all that knew him. At just 15 years old Aidan’s life was tragically taken from this earth on February 14, 2024.
Aidan was the epitome of a bright, young spirit- he was smart, adventurous, and brimming with life. He had a strong passion for sports, mountain biking, and anything outdoors. Aidan was a true “boy’s boy” with many friends. Aidan will be remembered for his sharp and brilliant mind. He made honor roll time and time again showcasing his love for learning and excellence in school.
As we mourn the loss of such a young vibrant life, Aidan’s family is also faced with the unexpected financial burden of funeral expenses in these trying times. Your contributions will go directly towards the costs associated with Aidan’s funeral and celebration of life. Any amount, no matter how small, will help ease the financial stress on Aidan’s family as they navigate through this period of mourning.
We thank you for your generosity, your thoughts and your prayers. Together let us honor the memory of Aidan- a boy whose time with us was far too short, but whose memory will live on with us forever.
His family is currently finalizing the funeral details and will share the arrangements as soon as they are confirmed.
Aidy, you will be our forever, Valentine. ❤️We will love and miss you forever. – via the GoFundMe

Clarkstown Police Department Report A Black Bear Sighting In New City

Published

on

A bear was spotted in the area of Simkin Dr. We want to remind everyone to stay safe and keep a respectful distance from wildlife. Here are some important safety tips if you encounter a black bear.
Never feed or approach a bear! Remain calm. Do not run; instead, back away slowly.
If you’re approached by a bear, you should remain calm and try to slowly back away while keeping an eye on the bear:
Identify yourself: Speak in a calm, reassuring voice to let the bear know you’re human.
Don’t run: Running can trigger a predatory response from the bear.
Make noise: You can try yelling, banging pots and pans, or using an airhorn to make loud noises.
Make yourself look big: You can try waving your arms or moving to higher ground.
Use bear spray: If you have bear spray, you can use it to deter the bear.
Leave the area: If possible, leave the area or take a detour.
Be especially careful around female bears: Never place yourself between a mother bear and her cubs.
Secure your trash and remove any food sources from your property.

Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland Receives Generous Donation of 7,760 Pairs of Socks

Published

on

Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland (CCCSR) is delighted to announce the generous donation of 7,760 pairs of socks from local community member, Jay Cohen. The socks will be distributed to individuals and families in need across Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, and the New York City boroughs of Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx.
The initial sock drive in 2023 was part of a charitable effort by a local networking organization which regularly supports various nonprofits across the area. This year, Jay Cohen of Advanced Security Consulting LLC continued the tradition on his own, raising $4,400 to purchase socks at cost or below, thanks to the support of generous partners. Ocean State Job Lot in New City played a special role in helping Cohen reach his goal by offering a 30% discount off their already low prices, allowing him to buy a thousand pairs of socks and clear their shelves.
Cohen’s donation aims to help those in need stay warm and comfortable as the colder months
approach. For people experiencing homelessness or struggling with financial hardship, having a new, clean pair of socks is a small yet meaningful gesture that can make a big difference. “The chance to help our neighbors in need, especially as the colder season approaches, is something I couldn’t pass up,” said Jay Cohen. “Socks are one of the most needed yet under-donated items, and I’m so glad that we could make a difference through this drive. A huge thank you to everyone who supported this effort—it’s a testament to what our community can accomplish together.”
