ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY – A Rockland County based firm ranks second among the top architects with projects in New York City. Aufgang Architects with headquarters in Suffern had new projects totaling 3,299,418 square feet in New York City which placed it in the number two spot in 2024 among all architects.
“We saw demand increase for our designs across a spectrum of development projects–market-rate multifamily, office conversions into housing and ground up affordable housing, as developers increasingly utilized new abatements and affordability programs,” Aufgang principal Ariel Aufgang said.
The ranking of top architectural firms was compiled by The Real Deal based on permits filed with the NYC Department of Buildings.
“In the past 22 years Aufgang Architects has designed more than 22 million square feet of built space including over 14,000 units of affordable housing,” said Aufgang.
The firm’s recent major projects include urban planning and designs of the first two multifamily buildings at Edgemere Commons, a 9.1 acre site in Far Rockaway, Queens, where a total of 2,050 affordable units are being developed.
