UPDATE: 1 Senior Citizen Dead, 2 Firefighters Hurt at Massive Blaze at Evergreen Home for Adults

BREAKING (9:10 am update_ : Director Chris Kear of the Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services announces that a Spring Valley Firefighter is currently unaccounted for after the fire at Evergreen Home For Adults.

One resident of the facility has passed away from injuries at the hospital.

Please keep this firefighter in your thoughts in prayers.

One senior citizen is dead and two firefighters injured following a massive fire at a residential assisted-living center in Spring Valley in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Fire officials say flames broke out at the Evergreen Home for Adults at 65 Lafayette St. around 1:30 a.m. Flames engulfed the large building, and there has been numerous roof and wall collapses. Firefighters had to be moved back from the building because of the collapses.

Twenty-three of 26 Rockland County volunteer fire departments responded to the fire, which is still active.

Tragedy in Orange County: A 50-year-old dad and his two young sons die in house fire

ORANGE COUNTY, NY – Tragedy in Orange County: A 50-year-old dad and his two young sons died in a house fire on Saturday night on Pulaski Highway in Goshen, located in Orange County, NY.

Both sons were nonverbal and had autism, according to News 12.

State police said emergency crews arrived at the fire just after 8 p.m. and found the home completely engulfed in flames. One neighbor said he saw about 30 trucks that were filled with responders.
