Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, a Westchester Democrat, to Introduce Legislation to Change the Bridge Name to “The Governor Mario M. Cuomo Tappan Zee Bridge”
Assemblyman Abinanti has introduced a proposal that would revert the name of the new bridge back to Tappan Zee, a reference to the Native Americans who lived in the Hudson Valley region as well as the Dutch settlers in the area, and keep the name Mario Cuomo alongside it. The bill would also name the welcome center at the Westchester landing of the bridge “The Governor Malcom Wilson Welcome Center. “
