Assemblyman Lawler by Rockland Report
On Thursday Assemblyman Mike Lawler hosted a press conference to highlight a bill (A.4648) he introduced, which adjusts the regional labor force cost index for the 2021-22 school year in the Hudson Valley region.

This bill would change the regional cost index for the Hudson Valley to better reflect the high cost of living and labor costs and ensure Westchester, Rockland, and other Hudson Valley schools receive their fair share of state school aid.

“For too long, Rockland County schools has been treated like schools in upstate New York, as opposed to Long Island and New York City, and it has cost us millions of dollars in direct state aid,” said Assemblyman Lawler.

Lawler says the increase, possibly more than $11 million in direct state aid for this year’s budget, would come starting in April.
