STONY POINT, NY — A 44-year-old Chestnut Ridge man, identified as Angelo Savage, has been arrested by the Stony Point Police Department in connection with an alleged assault, unlawful imprisonment, and attempted theft stemming from a dispute over a personal loan.
The incident was reported to police on July 27, 2025, when the victim filed a complaint stating that he had borrowed approximately $2,000 from Savage over time. A verbal altercation escalated at a private residence in Stony Point, where Savage allegedly punched the victim in the face with a closed fist and refused to let him leave until the debt was repaid.
According to the report, the victim handed over a debit card to settle the dispute and was subsequently allowed to leave the premises. Savage later attempted to withdraw cash using the debit card at a local ATM but was unsuccessful.
On July 30 at approximately 4:18 PM, Stony Point Police Officers on patrol observed Savage at a business on South Liberty Drive and recognized him as the subject of an open investigation. He was arrested without incident and transported to police headquarters for processing.
Savage has been charged with the following offenses – Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, Attempted Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, and Assault in the Third Degree.
He was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Stony Point Town Court on August 5, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
