Mike Lawler Sets Fundraising Records in Race for 97th Assembly Seat

PEARL RIVER, NY – In the hotly contested race for the 97th Assembly District, first-time candidate Mike Lawler set fundraising records with over $230,000 raised since the beginning of his campaign, over $120,000 raised since the last filing deadline, and over $160,000 cash-on-hand heading into the homestretch of the campaign.

“I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from friends, family, neighbors, and members of our community,” said Lawler. “Since the day I announced my candidacy for Assembly, Rockland County residents have had my back, and as the next Assemblyman in the 97th District, I’ll always have theirs.”

A large crowd of Rockland residents gathered at Clarkstown Town Hall to witness Senator Bill Weber being sworn in for his second term in office. Police Chaplain David Lothrop served as the Master of Ceremonies, while County Legislator Lon Hofstein introduced the distinguished guests in attendance. County Executive Ed Day delivered remarks, highlighting the importance of having Senator Weber championing Rockland’s interests in Albany. The ceremony featured an invocation by Rabbi Abraham Horowitz of Spring Valley and a benediction by Reverend Teresa Darden of Nyack.
