Ramapo Police Department Respond To An Assault With A Knife

On Thursday April 11, 2024, at approximately 8:27pm, the Ramapo Police Department responded to Trailside Place in the Town of Ramapo for the report of an assault with a knife. Upon the officers arrival, it was discovered that the victim had been accosted in his driveway by an unknown suspect. The victim was stabbed multiple times and removed from the scene to the hospital. Patrol officers located a possible suspect, and he was detained and brought to the Ramapo Police Department for questioning. The individual was cooperative and released from custody pending further investigation.
The victim is currently in stable condition and expected to survive. The Ramapo Police Department was assisted on scene by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the Clarkstown Police Department, Hatzolah Ambulance Corps, and Chaverim of Rockland.

The Ramapo Police Department has increased patrol presence throughout the Town.

RPD Detective Bureau Arrested Three Individuals In The Theft Of Edible Bamboo

The Town of Ramapo Police Department Detective Bureau arrested three individuals “stemming” from two incidents of the theft of over $3,000.00 in edible bamboo from the yard of a residence in the Village of Wesley Hills. The first incident occurred on 05/11/2024 when two suspects stole bamboo. On 05/20/2024, the two suspects from the first larceny returned with a third suspect, and again over $3,000.00 in bamboo was stolen. The defendants, all from Brooklyn, NY, were charged with Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Trespass. They were arraigned in Wesley Hills Court and released pending a future court date.
*It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Security Cameras Catch A Burglary In Progress Ramapo Police Department Were Called

Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at about 3:00 a.m., the owner of a business located within the Village of Airmont contacted Ramapo Police. They reported receiving an alert from their business’ security cameras and observed an unknown person inside the building. An astute RPD officer viewed the video and was able to identify the suspect by the clothing he was wearing. Later that morning, the 27 year old male from Spring Valley was located and found to be in possession of property stolen from the commercial building. He had other miscellaneous items in his possession at the time of his arrest and these items were taken into evidence. He was charged with Burglary 3rd, Criminal Trespass 2nd, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th and Petit Larceny. He was arraigned by Judge Schoenberger of the Town of Ramapo Justice Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail en lieu of $50,000 cash/$100,000 bond.
Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at about 5:00 pm, a second business owner in the Village of Airmont reported seeing a person on their security cameras enter their building and steal an item from a box located in the hallway of the building on May 21, 2024 at about 5:15 am. After reviewing the video, RPD officers were able to determine that this suspect was the same 27 year old who had been arrested earlier that date and that he had been in possession of the stolen item at the time of his arrest.
Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the suspect was charged with Burglary 3rd, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd and Grand Larceny 3rd degree on the second incident. He was processed at Rockland County Jail and issued an appearance ticket for a future court appearance.
