Fire Prevention Open House at the Orangeburg Volunteer Fire Department

Fire Prevention Week is October 2 – October 9. It is a week devoted to trying to raise awareness for fire safety. The Orangeburg FD hosted members of the community today to learn how to stay safe in case of a fire, why is it important to recognize the different alarms such as fire and carbon monoxide in your home, and also how firefighters combat fires.

Not only was this an informative event, it also provided a fun environment for children to learn about the fire service and safety.

In conjunction with the fire prevention open house, the members of the Orangeburg FD held a coat drive with the Salvation Army. Over 200 coats were collected and donated to the Salvation Army!
