Police Chase in Airmont Results in Multiples Charges for Driver

AIRMONT, NY – On Sunday (05/23/2021) a Ramapo PD Officer on patrol in the area of S. Airmont Rd and Church Rd, in the Village of Airmont, observed a traffic infraction committed by another vehicle. The officer made a U-Turn to pull behind the vehicle and the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed passing multiple vehicles in a reckless manner.

The operator of the vehicle lost control and crashed onto the front lawn of a residence on S. Airmont Rd. The operator and passenger fled on foot through the backyards of the nearby homes. The RPD Officer gave chase on foot, was able to catch up to both parties, and ultimately detain them. The passenger was treated at a local hospital for complaints of injuries from the motor vehicle crash.

The operator of the vehicle, a 20 year old male from Airmont, was arrested for Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Automobile Accident involving Injury, Reckless Endangerment 2nd, Assault 3rd, Sale/Purchase of a Stolen Certificate of Registration or Number Plate, Obstructing Governmental Administration and issued a number of traffic tickets.

The defendant was processed at RPD and released with no bail. He was issued an appearance ticket and advised to appear in court on a future date.

Rockland County Teams with NYS Police to Take Down Online Child Traffickers in Bold Operation

In a coordinated effort, the New York State Police, along with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Ramapo Police Department, carried out a successful undercover operation aimed at combating online child exploitation. Conducted over the course of several days, the operation led to the identification and arrest of several individuals involved in illegal activities related to child trafficking and exploitation.

Specialized Investigators used advanced cyber tools and techniques to infiltrate online platforms commonly used to facilitate these crimes. Through these efforts, they were able to track down suspects attempting to exploit minors online and lure them into in-person meetings.

As a result of the operation, the following six individuals were arrested and charged with various offenses. A historical investigation will continue into each of these individuals that were exposed during this investigation.

It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
