Rockland Department of Social Services to Hold Virtual Foster Care Info Session

Published

on

NEW CITY, NY – Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Commissioner of Social Services Joan Silvestri announced that the Department of Social Services will host online foster care information sessions at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

“Day in and day out we are being reminded of what our new ‘normal’ is becoming. Families find themselves in situations they have never faced before and in some instances, they find themselves doing things they never thought they would have to do,” said Commissioner SIlvestri. “Despite these unprecedented and rapidly changing times, one thing that has not changed is our continued need for new, loving and caring foster homes to help us ensure the safety and well being of some of Rockland’s most vulnerable population, our foster children.”

The Rockland County Department of Social Services continues to recruit new foster parents and will be conducting virtual information sessions for new certifications.

To sign up for a virtual information session please email Rocklandhomefinding@dfa.state.ny.us or call Beatrice Prophete at 845-364-3527. When you contact us, we will guide you through our expedited process and provide you with all the information you will need to get started.

This program helps reduce misunderstandings, lowers anxiety, and fosters a more empathetic and safer environment for everyone. 💙
