In 1821 playwright William Brown and actor James Hewlett, both men of color, created the first known all black theater in Manhattan. The company was also the first to stage Shakespeare’s Othello with a black actor in the lead role.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY – The Veritas Honor Choir from Albertus Magnus High School delivered a powerful and patriotic performance of the National Anthem at Yankee Stadium before a recent New York Yankees game.This remarkable opportunity showcased the talent and dedication of the Rockland County-based student choir on one of baseball’s biggest stages, earning applause from thousands of fans in attendance.

The performance not only highlighted the school’s strong performing arts program but also brought pride to the Albertus Magnus community and all of Rockland County.
