VIDEO: Fatal Spring Valley Structure Fire Under Investigation

May 6, 2020, At 1:06am, The Spring Valley Fire Department was assisted on scene by Hillcrest FD and Nanuet FD as they responded to North Pascack Road and Ewing Avenue in the Hillcrest section of the Town of Ramapo for a reported structure fire.

Upon the responding officers arrival, the residence was found fully engulfed in flames. Upon extinguishing the fire, a check of the interior found one occupant of the residence deceased. At this time the identity of the victim is unknown, as the house is apparently abandoned. The Ramapo Police Investigations Division responded to the scene and were assisted by the Rockland County Sheriffs Office Fire Investigation Unit.

At this time the cause and origin of the fire are unknown. No firefighters were injured responding to the call. Spring Hill EMS was on scene.

HPD Kicks Off The 2025 Season Of Cops And Kids Program At Fieldstone Middle School

The initial session of the Cops and Kids program in 2025 kicked off today at Fieldstone Middle School with a friendly game of dodgeball. This program is an opportunity for our department to connect with the youth in the community.
School Resource Officer Joe Bertolino, along with Police Officers Aquino and Fit, joined the students in the game, creating a fun environment that encouraged interaction between the kids and the police officers. We thank the North Rockland School District for their partnership and collaboration.
