Haverstraw Police Department Responds to Incident Involving Oil Delivery Truck in Pomona

On October 31, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Haverstraw Police Department Dispatch received a report of a male individual pinned beneath an oil delivery truck in the area of 88 Buckingham Court, Pomona. The male, identified as the operator of the truck, was found conscious but had sustained multiple injuries.
Upon arrival, Haverstraw Police Department officers located the driver pinned under the vehicle. Units from the Fire Department and EMS promptly arrived on the scene and were able to extricate the driver. He was subsequently transported by Haverstraw Ambulance to Westchester Medical Center for further treatment.
Initial investigation revealed that the operator had just completed an oil delivery. While securing the oil hose at the rear of the truck, which was parked on a hill, the vehicle began to roll backward. Tragically, the truck rolled over the driver and down an embankment. The circumstances leading to the truck’s movement remain under investigation, and the Department of Transportation will conduct an inspection of the vehicle to determine the cause.

An informational session is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, at 6 PM. This meeting is open to current and former law enforcement personnel who are considering joining the band.
