Published

on

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of Aidan Knerr, a bright light in the lives of all that knew him. At just 15 years old Aidan’s life was tragically taken from this earth on February 14, 2024.
Aidan was the epitome of a bright, young spirit- he was smart, adventurous, and brimming with life. He had a strong passion for sports, mountain biking, and anything outdoors. Aidan was a true “boy’s boy” with many friends. Aidan will be remembered for his sharp and brilliant mind. He made honor roll time and time again showcasing his love for learning and excellence in school.
As we mourn the loss of such a young vibrant life, Aidan’s family is also faced with the unexpected financial burden of funeral expenses in these trying times. Your contributions will go directly towards the costs associated with Aidan’s funeral and celebration of life. Any amount, no matter how small, will help ease the financial stress on Aidan’s family as they navigate through this period of mourning.
We thank you for your generosity, your thoughts and your prayers. Together let us honor the memory of Aidan- a boy whose time with us was far too short, but whose memory will live on with us forever.
His family is currently finalizing the funeral details and will share the arrangements as soon as they are confirmed.
Aidy, you will be our forever, Valentine. ❤️We will love and miss you forever. – via the GoFundMe
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers and any donation amount will go a long way to help a family during an extremely difficult time. Link here

Do You Have An Interest In History And Would Like To Volunteer? Camp Shanks Museum Wants You!

The Camp Shanks Museum commemorates the military facility that served as the largest point of embarkation for soldiers headed for the front lines in North Africa and Europe during World War II, including the landing forces for the D-Day invasion. Opened in 1942, Camp Shanks contained 1,500 barracks, mess halls, theaters, a hospital, and other buildings where some 1.5 million G.I.s (approximately 40,000 a month) were issued combat equipment and underwent final inspections before shipping overseas. Most soldiers spent eight to 12 days at the self-supporting complex dubbed “Last Stop, U.S.A.” Located in a simulated barracks, the museum contains artifacts and photographs that recount the history of Camp Shanks and describe the everyday life of male and female soldiers at the facility. A Wall of Honor lists servicemen and women who spent time there.
