Haverstraw (NY) Falls to New Jersey in Mid-Atlantic Region Championship

Bristol, Connecticut – After an incredible run, the Haverstraw LL team representing the state of New York, lost to Elmora, New Jersey 19-4 in the Mid-Atlantic Regional.

New Jersey was lead by stellar pitching from J.R. Rosado. Elmora (NJ) would jump out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning, seven in the second and two in the third to lead 11-4, then put the game out of reach with eight runs in the sixth.

Haverstraw kept fighting and showed life throughout the game, eventually scoring 4 runs. The night belonged to the Elmora New Jersey “Troopers.” The team is called the Troopers in honor of New Jersey State Trooper Thomas J. Hanratty who was killed in the line of duty April 2, 1992 in a motor vehicle accident. Trooper Hanratty played in the league growing up.

With Saturday’s win, New Jersey advances to the Little League World Series.

New York Liberty To Celebrate First WNBA Championship With Parade in New York City This Thursday, Oct. 24th

This Thursday, Oct. 24, the New York Liberty will celebrate its first WNBA Championship in franchise history with a ticker tape parade through New York City. The parade will tip off at 10 a.m. from Battery Park and proceed north along Broadway to City Hall, through what is known as the “Canyon of Heroes.”  Following the parade, there will be a ceremony at City Hall honoring the New York Liberty at noon.
